The Advanced ORA SYSTEM®

The ORA (Optiwave Refractive Analysis) SYSTEM® can be used to provide intra- operative measurements during cataract surgery. This advanced technology measures and verifies the correct lens implant power — as surgery is happening. Traditional methods of calculating lens power are done preoperatively and cannot take into account total ocular astigmatism including surgically induced and posterior corneal astigmatism. With ORA, this measurement is taken after the cataract is removed, allowing a clearer view, and more precise selection of lens implant power. The result is unsurpassed accuracy and a refined visual result, especially for those with astigmatism or who have undergone previous refractive surgery. Combining preoperative measurements with the ORA SYSTEM® is a powerful tool to improve patient outcomes. Use of the ORA is considered a non-covered service by insurance, so additional cost will apply.
