What Is a Cataract?

A cataract is the clouding of the natural clear lens of the eye. When this happens, the amount of light entering the eye is decreased, and vision becomes reduced. Cataracts are a normal part of aging; some cataracts progress slowly while others can quickly affect vision.

The best way to treat a cataract is to remove it and replace it with an artificial lens implant. Once the cataract has been removed a tiny intraocular lens (IOL) implant replaces your cloudy cataract to restore your vision. This unique implantable lens significantly improves vision after cataract surgeries giving you the ability enjoy an active lifestyle with an increased freedom from glasses.

Claris Eye Care & Surgery: Cataract Surgery Experts

Claris Eye Care & Surgery has a remarkable outpatient procedure with premium lens cataract surgery. Cataract surgery is one of the most common and successful procedures performed in the United States today. In fact, the American Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgery reports that cataract surgery with premium lens implants has successfully improved the vision of over 98% of patients.

Premium Lens: Advanced IOL Technology

Recent advances in IOL technology give cataract patients the option of choosing a premium lens that provides a full range of vision unlike the standard design of a monofocal lens. Our premium lenses, ReSTOR® and Toric® are designed to improve your vision to see near, far and in between or to correct astigmatism and improve your distance vision.

We have the perfect partnership for premium lens procedures with the femtosecond laser, as premium lenses require exquisite central placement. With our highly advanced femtosecond laser assisted cataract surgery we can create incisions more precisely to soften the cataract lens, reducing several variables affecting placement, decreasing postoperative healing time and increasing safety.
